Wondering what to wear to a masquerade ball? Masquerade dress is quite different from costume parties. It's generally formal or semi-formal, and you'll need to consider the party's theme, if any.

Choosing Appropriate Costumes
While a masquerade party will have a general theme such as Victorian, Shakespeare or the 1920s, it differs from a costume party because the guests do not wear full costumes. They are usually dressed either formally or semi-formally, depending on the hosts’ requirements, and have masks help flesh out the theme.

The masks serve the purpose of concealing the wearer’s identity and adding a bit of detail to the outfit. Guests can also wear wigs, hats and perhaps some makeup, but these should be appropriate for a formal setting. Powdered wigs for women and period-style hats for men are the norm.

At a masquerade ball, there are no gruesome costumes. You may see a Phantom of the Opera or a tuxedo-clad vampire, but you won’t see a zombie or axe-wielding manic. Even at a Mardi Gras or general masquerade, scary or gory costumes are out of place. You also can't substitute makeup for a mask.

Wardrobe EssentialsIf you are invited to a masquerade ball, it is very important that you follow the dress code established in the invitation. If there's no theme or it's a Mardi Gras party, go with semi-formal attire.

If the dress code is formal, that means tuxedos for men and formal masquerade dresses for women. If it is semi-formal, women may wear dresses that are more casual and men may wear suits. No jeans, sneakers or T-shirts.

Masquerade masks can be small pieces that only cover the eyes to large masks that may include oversized noses or beaks. As a rule, there are no limitations on the type of mask you can wear. Some masks are very colorful and are adorned with gems and feathers. In fact, the sky is the limit for these masks. You can buy one that's already made, or get a plain one and decorate it yourself with glitter, feathers and paint. Make sure the mask complements your outfit, and you can't go wrong.

If you're attending a Venetian-style masquerade, a full-face mask is usually required. Otherwise, it's best to choose masks that don't cover your mouth, so that you can eat and drink easily. Masks on handles are better suited to women than to men, and they can be a burden to carry throughout the event.

General masquerades should be treated as semi-formal events, which means gowns for women and coats or tails for the men.
AccessoriesYou'll embellish your outfit with a mask, and perhaps a wig and makeup. The mask is an essential piece of masquerade gear. It should conceal your identity while allowing you to eat, breathe and see normally. The exception to this rule is Venetian-style masquerades, where the mask must cover the entire face.

You can opt to purchase a decorated masquerade mask from a costume shop, or create your own personalized mask by decorating a plain white mask with glitter, paint and feathers. In either case, make sure the mask complements your outfit, both in color and in personality.
Think twice about masquerade masks with handles. While they can be quite lovely, you'll be stuck holding the mask throughout the event, which can get tiresome after a few hours.
Wigs are a common accessory at masquerades, especially if there is a Victorian, Venetian or historical theme that supports them. Men can opt for period-style hats in place of wigs, or wear both. As a rule, women should wear powdered wigs without hats, unless a particular character calls for a hat.

Heyo! Its been quite a while since I last posted here eh? I wasn't shaking off my responsibility okay! I was very very very busy the last few weeks. Yupp busy, er studying. (to those who went like "ya right", just go awayyyyy pls) I can prove it! Like you see, I've been completing my homework, okay..most. And I passed my chem test, like wow! :D yayayaya its nothing to most of you but its like once in a blue moon that I pass chem tests okayyy!

Anyway, my point is....now that I'm free, I shall post all the upcoming tests!

Chinese New Year/ Lunar New Year

This week

I think I'll have less friends while CNA is still on. I don't want to be having lung cancer or something like many of the unfortunate friends of Ashley has contracted, or to be the victim of some sort of corruption, or even be the spotlight by being misunderstood as one of those fathers staying home to take care of children.

It is sad to know that so many people so close to us are suffering. English Oral Examiners must have felt much more emotional as they listen to the tragedies of the thousands of students in Singapore during their O' Level oral examination.

Okay, so we didn't win the CNY deco. Like I had quoted Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, "I am deeply convinced that the biggest disappointments are born out of big expectations" as he cautioned people on the unrealistic hope of americans have on US President Obama.

However, one setback shouldn't stop us. Let us move on as we celebrate Lunar New Year, a new beginning.

Hi all 3-justicians!

While i was on my way home, i was smirking. Why? Because i felt that today's bbq was really really fun man. This is like the first class i had that i didnt have to YELL at ppl to tell them what to do.

Everybody were like so 'on the ball' and i practically didnt hear any complains!! I am glad i had ppl like jilyn and ashley who helped kick start and buy the bbq food. Also glad to have Mr Chia, fongsin, Dylan, pinjun, jiaxin and WHOEVER i missed out who helped cook the food. Thank you Jiaxin, Shevon, jilyn for helping prepare the food. Thank you to Adeline who helped collect the money. Thank you to Shevon who kept videoing us. Thank you to the team of boys.. Brain, Chinwang, Domi, Junzhou, Pinjun, Fs, Iggy and YeeChong for being so efficient in organizing our ad-hoc nightwalk! Lastly, thank you to all who came and had fun.

A special thanks goes out to Dylan and his mum who let us use her place, dirty it and even kept feeding us with her stingray. Thanks!

May we have more of such fun and WeLL-bEHaVEd outings. To sign off, i still remember i am undefeated in table tennis. HAW HAW!!!!!

I really wanted to kill 3JT boys and girls..... i love my sat and sunday morning sleeps man. THANKS for the spam sms ah all of you!!! I love the thought of the coordinated 'attack' but guess what.... i went back to sleep. Hee Haw!!

Nevertheless, thank you so so much for the wishes. I really feel energised what with all the admin lately, marking, setting test papers, daily cleaning of my own room and clothes, student problems, friend problems, own problems etc.

For my birthday wish, i wish that all of you grow up to become a strong, upright and principled person. Its a main reason i came to teach. I can see it in some of you cheeky ones already... Next i wish the class bond together. I believe that 2 yrs with activities there will be more enough time for all of you to bond with one another and accept each other weirdness, just like how i accepted yours! HAahahHAHAHAHAHAHAH -_-||

well as you can see, i changed the skin upon request from mr lam. cos apparently, the older skin takes ages to load. so for the time being, use this first okay?

chemistry lesson during march holiday will be from 1030am and i am aiming for it to end by 12pm. Do your worksheets 6 and 7. Your chemical equation lecture notes is with me. I will give it out on the day itself.

Do all your homework finish this holiday and then u can reward yourself with games or outings wit your own friends.

Remember to pia because once school start...you have only 5 weeks of lessons before MID YR EXAMS! But these 5 weeks is going to be fun because there is Good Friday, Bazaar By the Lake and Sports Day which all falls on friday too =)
